Tottenham came away from their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool from Roberto Firmino’s winner, put in a very accomplished performance.

Mourinho gave Japhet Tanganga another opportunity during midweek in the FA Cup. He showed impressive ability and composure on the ball, playing out of position at right-back.

In Spurs’ 2-1 win over Middlesbrough, he was named man of the match and Mourinho has also been given another option in new signing Gerson Fernandes from Benfica.

The 21-year-old signed on an 18-month loan deal with an option to purchase and is expected to fill the void left by the injured Moussa Sissoko.

Harry Kane, the club’s only striker is out until at least April with a hamstring injury. Tottenham’s run of one win in their last four means they have dropped into 8th and nine points off the top four.

But at Vicarage Road on the weekend, the Portuguese manager faces an in-form Watford side. The Hornets have been galvanized under Nigel Pearson winning all of their last three league games.

New manager Nigel Pearson has given them a much-needed move out of the relegation zone. The Hornets have taken 13 points from their last six games – four more than what they took in their first 16 games.

Watford team news

Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Daryl Janmaat and Sebastian Prodl will all miss the game through injuries. Will Hughes is an injury doubt. Christian Kabasele returns for Watford after suspension.

Tottenham team news

Gedson Fernandes is available for the weekend’s clash. Christian Eriksen looks close to leaving the club for Inter Milan. Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Ben Davies all remain sidelined.
