UEFA Champions League, Inter Milan vs Real Madrid and matchweek 4 fixtures

Real Madrid will be on the road to face Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium in Group B clash in matchweek 4.  The two European giants also faced off in the reverse fixture in matchweek 3 with the Los Blancos winning 3-2.

Both teams are placed in Group B where just three points separate toppers Borussia Monchengladbach (5 points from three matches) and bottom-placed Inter (2 from three matches). Real Madrid are third with 4 points from three matches, trailing second-placed Shakhtar Donetsk on goal difference.

A loss for either side in the match is crucial to their qualification to the knockout stages in this season’s UCL. At home, Inter Milan will need to go for the three points.  Aleksandar Kolarov, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and goalkeeper Daniele Padelli have all tested COVID-19 positive and will be unavailable for the game.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane too is dealing with the virus. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Casemiro and Eder Militao had recently tested positive for coronavirus. While Hazard, Casemiro and Militao have recovered and available, Jovic is certain to miss out against Inter. Sergio Ramos, who picked up an injury while playing for Spain during the international break.  Raphael Varane is also doubtful for the match after injuring his shoulder on international duty.

This will be Real Madrid’s first visit to San Siro since 1998.
