The Bundesliga has confirmed that games will return on May 9, pending government approval. Games across the German top division have been postponed since March 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Matches will continue from May 9 but that they must get an agreement from the government first. DFL CEO Christian Seifert said in a press conference: “Bundesliga would be ready to start playing on the 9th of May. BUT the DFL does not take the decision. They are completely trusting the government to decide when it is possible.”

German clubs became the first in Europe to return to training following the suspension of their league albeit with precautionary measures in place, such as working in groups of five, with minimal contact. Germany league was suspended on 13 March, until at least 30 April, with most sides having nine games still to play.
