Martinelli could miss rest of Arsenal’s season with knee injury
Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli could miss the rest of season after suffering a knee complaint in training.
The injury occurred on Monday but Martinelli completed that session, underwent a scan on Tuesday to discover the full extent of the problem.
It could be meniscus damage which, pending confirmation and consultation with a renowned knee specialist, would almost certainly sideline him for the remainder of the campaign.
It is the latest blow for head coach Mikel Arteta following injuries to Granit Xhaka, Pablo Mari and Bernd Leno in Arsenal’s first two games since the Premier League’s resumption.
Martinelli, 19, is with 10 goals from 26 appearances.
