Vihiga Queens hosted Nakuru City Queens at Mumias Sports Complex as the 2021-2022 Kenya Women Premier League kicked off this weekend after the women’s national league was postponed following the disbandment of Football Kenya Federation.

Defending Champions Thika Queens hosted Kayole Starlets at the Thika Stadium as they seek to retain their title in the new season set to be played under a new format. where last season the league was played in zonal format, this season will have a unified league of 12 teams. Last season WPL was divided in Zone “A” and “B”.

Each zone had eight teams each with the bottom three being relegated to FKF Division One.
