November 19, 2023

Kenya’s Harambee Starlets are gearing up for a crucial two-legged tie against Botswana’s the Zebras in the final round of the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers. The Starlets, seeking to qualify for the continental showpiece for the second time in seven years, have named a provisional squad of 29 players for a preparatory camp.

Head coach Beldine Odemba has retained most of the players who featured in the previous round against Cameroon, with a few notable additions. Vihiga Queens’ Mercyline Wayodi and FK Apolonia Fier’s Lorna Nyarinda make a comeback to the team, while Kenya Police Bullets goalkeeper Mishi Mbaru, Bungoma Queens defender Centrine Wasike, and forwards Rebecca Okwaro and Nancy Atako receive their first call-ups.

Ulinzi Starlets duo Joy Kinglady and Fasila Odhiambo graduate to the senior team, adding to the squad’s youthful exuberance. The team is expected to enter camp on Monday, November 20, 2023, to begin their intensive preparations for the upcoming matches.

The first leg will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at home in Kenya, followed by the second leg away in Botswana on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
