Gor Mahia have hired Sammy Omollo as a “stand in” coach for their two upcoming Champions League preliminaries against APR FC of Rwanda. Roberto Oliveira Goncalves aka Robertinho was disqualified by CAF for lack of relevant coaching badges i.e. CAF A License or UEFA Pro and CAF B holders upon request.

Football Keya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed BetKing is the new Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sponsor.

Robertinho, who led Rwanda’s Rayon Sports FC to the quarterfinals of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup, only have CAF C Licence and Brazil national qualifications.

While at Rayon, Robertinho’s papers were equalized to enable him acquire CAF’s qualifications, and his assistant Patrick Odhiambo has only have CAF C.

“Everton Football Club will end its partnership agreement with SportPesa at the end of the current season,”  the agreement has been reached following a comprehensive review by the club of its commercial strategy in line with its vision and future growth plans,” the statement adds.

The situation forced the club to seek another option by hiring Pamzo, a legend of the club, who was overlooked, when Patrick was being recruited.

“We have settled on Sammy Omollo to be the stand in coach for the team in Rwanda as we try to sort out the current coach’s (Roberto) issue with CAF. He will lead the technical bench as Roberto is not allowed to be on the touchline until the issue is sorted,” noted Rachier, Gor Mahia’s chairman.

Gor Mahia, were declared the champions of the 2019-20 season after the FKF moved to end the league prematurely owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, are yet to receive their trophy for winning the league. The FKF has already unveiled Nigerian betting-firm BetKing and Chinese Pay TV StarTimes as part of their partners for the new campaign.
