Chapa Dimba is returning after a three-year break

According to Barry Otieno, the CEO of Football Kenya Federation, the Safaricom Chapa Dimba youth tournament’s revival will assist in discovering more talent. The event is set to commence on April 29 at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi, catering to players aged between 16-20 years.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup officially begins on July 20 in Auckland.
The competition had been on a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Kenya’s suspension by Fifa. Team registration is currently open, and the tournament is expected to offer scholarships to 150 students. Additionally, the top male and female players will be selected to join clubs in Spain, with an opportunity to participate in trials in the country.
The tournament, named ‘Safaricom Chapa Dimba,’ is scheduled to begin in June and continue until January of next year. Following the conclusion of the tournament, an all-star team will be chosen to attend a 10-day boot camp in Spain with a La Liga team.
