Liverpool are still to holding onto the Champions League title they won last summer as they take on Atletico Madrid. They ended up finishing top ahead of Napoli, who beat them away from home. The Reds win at Norwich City on Saturday took their unbeaten run to 14 league and cup games minus the loss to Aston Villa in the EFL Cup when playing a youth side.

Atletico Madrid are fourth in La Liga and13 points behind leaders Real Madrid and they have to try and confirm their place in next season’s Champions League. They are only three points above eighth place with only one win in their last seven league and cup games. 24 league games have only produced 25 goals but just 17 have been conceded. In the group stages of this competition, Atletico finished second, six points behind Juventus.

Liverpool will be away from home in the first leg of this Champions League last sixteen tie. Atletico aren’t consistent but never that easy to beat or score lots of goals against.

Borussia Dortmund — PSG

The UEFA Champions League returns with the knockout stages with a number of games, including Borussia Dortmund’s home game against PSG. PSG struggled against Amiens, with a rise from 0–3 down to draw 4–4, Dortmund , battering Eintracht Frankfurt 4–0. Dortmund’s win saw then end a run of two losses while keeping just two clean sheets. They have three straight home wins and in the Champions League, Dortmund have four wins in the last 11 — not a very strong run in Europe there. They are unbeaten in their last three Champions League games at home, though with just one clean sheet in the last four at home in the competition.Dortmund have scored five goals and conceded three in the last two Champions League home games.

This is the third meeting between the two sides; the first two ended in draws.

PSG survived an almost 3–0 lose to relegation threatened Amiens and conceded late one to see it end 4–4. They have had defensive problems and they have no clean sheet in their last four matches. PSG are unbeaten in their last 14 away matches and in the Champions League, they have not lost in the last six, winning five of them. They have scored two or more goals in four of their last six Champions League matches and are also unbeaten in the last six away.

PSG have also kept three clean sheets in the last four away matches in the Champions League.
