Augsburg, 12th in the table, welcome Paderborn, 18th, to the Augsburg Arena on Wednesday night. The hosts are coming off the back of a victory away to Schalke to end a run of six games without a victory. Augsburg went ahead through a wonderful free-kick by Eduard Löwen in the opening ten minutes. The tremendously-named Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee scored his first goal for Augsburg to double the lead late on before Sergio Córdova rounded the goalkeeper in stoppage time. Heiko Herrlich missed last week’s defeat to Wolfsburg after serving a ban for breaking quarantine rules.

Paderborn needed to make an immediate improvement after they haven’t tasted victory in their two return fixtures, they have avoided defeat. Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Hoffenheim meant that they had failed to win any of their last eight games.
