Breaking: Jose Mourinho sacked as Tottenham head coach

Premier League to make drastic changes to VAR process after Liverpool goal controversy

Jose Mourinho has been sacked as Tottenham head coach after just under 18 months in the job.

He was appointed in place of Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019, the experienced manager guided Spurs to a Europa League place in 2019/20 following a host of injuries to key players. However, results have been extremely poor since the turn of the year and as a result Daniel Levy has parted with the man he appointed almost 18 months ago.

There will be a third season-long UEFA men’s football club competition for the first time in more than 20 years next season.

Tottenham are due to face Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday, April 25, right after they tackle Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday, April 21.

Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, and two other Premier League sides are said to be involved in plans for a European Super League; Premier League and UEFA robustly condemn the proposals; a number of top Italian and Spanish clubs are believed to also be involved in the plans.
