AFCON 2019 quarter-finals: Madagascar vs. Tunisia Algeria vs. Ivory Coast

  • Nigeria vs. South Africa – Nigeria (proceeds to the semi- finals after a 2 – 1 win against Bafana Bafana)
  • Algeria vs. Ivory Coast: winner will face Nigeria in semis
  • Madagascar vs. Tunisia: winner will face Senegal in semis

Algeria vs. Ivory Coast

Algeria have won all their four matches and are yet to concede a goal at the tournament and might be favorites to go all the way to the final, but they have to thrash Ivory Coast inorder to move on to the next round in Suez.

Algeria beat Senegal, Kenya and Tanzania in the group stages before finishing it off with Guinea in Sunday’s last-16 match (3-0).

Algeria have shown that they are good at all levels. They are very powerful. They are the best team at the tournament by far,” said Guinea’s coach Paul Put.

Ivory Coast, lost to Morocco in the group stages have won matches against Namibia, South Africa to reach the quarter finals.

Madagascar vs. Tunisia

Tournament first timers Madagascar have been impressive in the tournament take on Tunisia, who are yet to win or lose a match, in the quarter-final at the Al Salam Stadium.

Madagascar, shocked fans with a 2-0 group stage victory over Nigeria this being their first time participating at Africa’s biggest football tournament for the first time.

Nigeria guaranteed their semi-final spot after beating South Africa in the second quarter-final of AFCON 2019.

Senegal are looking to make the finals by doing better than back in 2002 when they were losing finalists.
