Stuttgart host Hamburger SV in the battle to claim the second and final automatic promotion spot. The home side are in third, a point behind visitors Hamburger SV. Stuttgart can’t afford to lose but they come into it struggling for form after they lost 1-0 at relegation-threatened Wehen and on Sunday went down 3-2 at Holstein Kiel, they equalized early in the second half but then conceded two goals in the 78th and 79th minutes. Stuttgart have the best home record in the Bundesliga II with ten wins out of 13 games. Only two have been lost and just nine goals conceded.
Hamburger SV have only won three away league games but lost the same number. They did manage to get a point on Saturday at home against the league leaders, meaning they are still seven points behind them. Hamburg haven’t won any of their last three away league matches with just one victory in the last 12, yet they are still challenging for promotion.
